Offered is an interesting early American coin silver teaspoon bearing the mark C*D in an oval punch, struck twice. This mark was originally attributed in the book "Silver in Maryland" to Cantwell Douglass (1774-1807), but has now been re-assigned by Cathy Hollan in "Virginia Silversmiths" to Caleb Davis (1769-1834), apprenticed to clockmaker Elijah Evans in Frederick County MD in 1784, married to Mary Upp in Maryland in 1792, working in Woodstock, Virginia circa 1796-1816 (partnered as Fry &... Offered is a gorgeous pair of Neoclassical silver-gilt tea or coffee spoons or dessert spoons, with fine style and workmanship. Each spoon has an open reserve with filigree decoration surmounted by a well-executed cast mask of either a Greek or Roman god, or perhaps an important Greek like Socrates. Zeus would be another likely candidate. The faces are more detailed and more finely modeled than is usually seen. These spoons have elongated proportions and soaring curves typical of the early... Offered is a nice example of the work of Carlisle silversmith and clockmaker Thomas Conlyn, who was born along the James River in Virginia but traveled north to Wilmington, Delaware to apprentice in the silversmith trade under Charles Canby. After his apprenticeship was completed, Conlyn relocated to Carlisle, Pennsylvania and commenced his business around 1839. He retired around 1890 and died in 1905 after a long and prosperous life.

Offered is a good transitional finless fiddle coin silver teaspoon by Litchfield, Connecticut and Brattleboro, Vermont silversmith Isaac Thompson (1777 - 1844). Thompson was working alone in Litchfield from about 1805 to 1811 and in Brattleboro between about 1811 and 1817. This spoon was probably made in Connecticut but could have been made in either locale. Offered is a nice coin silver tea spoon retailed by noted silversmith Samuel Richards of Philadelphia, and given the floret mark used by John Curry, probably manufactured by him. This piece has good clear marks and a period engraved "MMG" script monogram. It measures about 6 inches in length and weighs about 20 grams. Condition is fair, with some tip wear and a dent to the bowl, but no splits or repairs. All in all a good example of these marks!

Offered is a lovely pair of transitional shoulder-less Southern coin silver tea spoons by noted Virginia and Kentucky silversmith Asa Blanchard, circa 1807-15 by style and given their Kentucky origin. The maker's mark on these spoons (mark "d" in Hollan's "Virginia Silversmiths", corresponding to mark "29C" in Boultinghouse's "Silversmiths of Kentucky") has only been found on pieces with Kentucky provenances. Offered is a very fine pair of American coin silver cauldron style salt cellars by silversmith John C. Moore, and retailed by Canfield Bro. & Co. of Baltimore. These appear to date to the 1850s or a little earlier. Each is crested with an armorial of a dolphin in the classical taste, probably period to the pieces' manufacture. Each also bears a slightly later inscription, showing an initial date of 1858 and a perhaps later addition in 1893. Each cellar bears John C. Moore's manufacturer's... Click for details

A rare item, this folding glove button hook was made by George Shiebler, whose "winged S" symbol appears on one side of the blade, along with the name of the retailer, New York's "Theo[dore]. B. Starr." The opposite side of the blade is stamped "Sterling" and "Patent 83."

The pattern is identified as "Homeric" or "Etruscan" and is derivative of the Aesthetic Movement. It typically has hammered surfaces and irregular shapes, and also incorporates classical figures reminiscent of "Medallion"... Click for details

Offered is an interesting American coin silver master salt spoon by Albert Coles, in a pattern that I haven't seen before and that is quite attractive. This piece has clear maker's marks for Albert Coles and there is no monogram or sign of erasure. This piece measures about 3 7/16 inches in length and weighs about 8 grams. Condition is excellent, with no dings, dents, splits or repairs. All in all a fine piece in a rare pattern!

Offered is a very rare example of the work and maker's mark of Jean-Felix LeFevre (1780 - 1813), silversmith of Philadelphia. This piece is in fair condition at best, with a lot of surface wear and a dinged and dented bowl, but has a decent legible maker's mark and a period engraved script monogram. Offered is a good early French silver fiddlethread pattern teaspoon fully hallmarked for Paris circa 1798-1809; this piece is entirely silver-gilt and bears a good coat of arms or family crest to the reverse. The maker's mark is JJD with a spoon between the Js, for Jean-Jacques DeFrance, working in Paris circa 1803-06. This piece measures about 5 9/16 inches in length and weighs about 26 grams. Offered is a rare set of four Southern coin silver spoons by Shelbyville silversmith Warren B. Ewing, working from about 1845 to his death in 1876. Each of these spoons is marked WBE incuse, which is a much scarcer mark used by Ewing than is his full name mark. Each spoon has the typical style and proportions of Ewing's work, and each has a legible maker's mark. There is no sign of a monogram or erasure. Stamped "* F & H *" for "Farrington & Hunnewell," one of Boston's most prolific 19th century manufacturers, this coin silver master butter, or possibly pickle, knife measures 7" long and weighs just over .8 T. oz.

It is also imprinted with a retailer's mark that is only partially legible, but begins with "A." and ends with "P."

It has a down-turned, "Pointed Antique" handle, and a scalloped upper edge blade.

Early production pieces in the history of Tiffany, this pair of matched master salts are stamped with the model number "3402," introduced about 1873, on the undersides.

Other marks include the order number, "4016," "Tiffany & Co.," "M," and "Sterling Silver."

Each of these stands 7/8" high on a footed base 1 3/8" across, and has a maximum body diameter of 1 3/4". The pair combined weigh 1.4 T. oz.

This is a really nice milk glass Grape pattern Quarter Pound Butter Dish with Lid made by Imperial Glass. This butter dish measures 7 1/4 inches long X 2 1/2 inches high. It is signed IG inside the lid. Both the bottom and lid are in very good condition with no chips, cracks or scratches.
