or "kidney" shaped bowl, length 9 5/8 inches, weight 4.27 Troy ounces, gilt bowl, excellent condition.

Granted, this is not the rarest piece of Tiffany flatware you'll encounter while surfing the interwebz, but several features do make it stand out from the crowd: 1) the overall color, condition and lack of polishing wear 2) the exceptionally well executed and decorative Art Nouveau monogram (see third photo) which I can not decipher, and 3) the eminently reasonable price tag.

A full size, 7 3/4" long, heavy, nearly 2.4 T. oz., dinner fork, this item is marked with Gorham's "lion, anchor, G" emblem, "Sterling," and "Copyrighted," indicating it is an original, early production, example.

The pattern, "Versailles," remains perhaps the most enduringly appealing of the many grand, full line, designs Gorham generated in the late 19th century.

Intricately wrought, it borrows its imagery from classical motifs, this piece portraying a male figure carrying a dead boar... Click for details

With dates largely corresponding to the second quarter of the 19th century, the firm of Robert and William Wilson was a significant silver manufactury.

While "Tipt" end examples of their work, which this is, are readily found, this 6 3/8" long cream ladle stands apart for several reasons.

One feature is its heavy weight, 1.7 T oz., and consequent solid composition. A second feature is its perfectly round, hemispherical, bowl, which is 1 5/8" in diameter and 1/2" deep.

The handle has... Click for details

The mid 19th century witnessed a flourishing of nut servers and picks, of which this 5 7/8" long, not quite .3 T. oz., nut pick is an example.

It was brought to market by New York City's William Gale & Son, 1862-66, whose name, along with the word "Sterling" and the number "2" imprinted on the reverse.

Essentially flat, save for a slight (intentional) bend at the tip, it has a twisted central shank, and a shaped handle end. Both sides of the pick and handle are bright cut engraved, with... Click for details
