Offered is a rare example of the wares of the jewelry and arms firm of E.J Johnston & Co., of Macon, GA. This partnership comprised Edward (Edmund) J. Johnston and George S. Obear, and is well-known for its production of various types of swords for the officers and men of the Confederate Army. This spoon probably pre-dates the war, as E.J. Johnston & Co. was in business from about 1853 to 1868-69.
