The mark on this pair of 6 3/8" long, 1.2 t. oz., c. 1830, coin silver tongs is "I. Reed." with an eagle. This could be Issac Reed of Stamford, Connecticut, or the same name from Philadelphia. The presence of the eagle points to the latter, as this is identified as a "Philadelphia eagle" by John McGrew in his work on pseudo hallmarks. This has a feathered script "AMS" monogram on the 3/4" wide top arch, and generously proportioned cup grips. The condition is very good. There are no breaks o... Click for details
