This is a vintage silver plated crumb catcher with a wooden black handle. I do not know how old it is. It would be a handy item to have around the house. After dinner, just brush the food crumbs off the table into it. Very unique. This crumb catcher or silent butler is handy, useful and would make a fine addition to any home. Meerschaum is a German word meaning “sea foam”. Geologists know it as hydrous magnesium silicate.
The pipe will turn from beige to red. It will take
from 2 to 3 years for the pipe to color, although it depends on the tobaccos that are used and the amount of time smoked.
