Meerschaum Smoking Pipe-Eagle Claw/Skull-Turkey--unused

This is an eagle claw, skull meerschaum smoking pipe from Turkey. It is hand carved. Measures 6" in length, 2" height and 1 1/4" wide.

Meerschaum pipes are made out of compacted minerals from the sea. Meerschaum is a soft material when removed from the water, and once it has dried out it may be carved. Once the material has been carved it is usually covered in beeswax and heated thoroughly in a kiln to prevent it from cracking. Meerschaum pipes are unique because the meerschaum will slowly change to different shades of yellow, red or orange after time from the smoking process.

The pipe comes with a hard black case in great condition. The inside of the case is lined.

One of the fascinating things about meerschaum is its ability to change color from beige to red after several smokings.
