Japan-Bookends- Colonial Man and Woman -Vintage

This is a vintage Colonial man and woman ceramic figurine bookends in good condition. They measure approximately 6" tall and are about 4 " wide . The couple appear to be sitting on chairs. "Japan" is stamped on the bottom. I got these at an estate sale. I have no idea how old they are or anything about them.
