Vintage Glass Ashtray or Candy Dish with Bird Handle

This is a beautiful vintage ashtray. However, there are no grooves for cigarettes so it might be a candy dish or small mint dish. It is lovely.. It measures 5" diameter x 6 1/4" overall, including the handle. It is very ornate and decorative. I do not know what the handle is made of. It has a bird perched on the handle with its wings spread.
