Wall Pocket Hanging Basket Planter or Wall Vase, One of

A beautiful 1960's pottery studio wall pocket, entirely hand crafted, not made from any mold, with a basket weave pattern into which the potter placed a old ring with patinaed metal leaves. The leaf ring appears to have been salvaged from an old chandelier or piece of furniture; a typical garland pattern on the back of the ring can be clearly seen in the photo of the back. It is gloss glazed inside for use as a wall vase or planter. The clay is natural pale terracotta, with light mineral pigment highlighting that lends a weathered, rustic appearance. A delicate cluster of flowers and foliage lies along one edge - please view the detail photo. This wall pocket is in excellent condition with no cracks or hairlines. Its outer diameter is 8.75 inches. It does not appear to have ever been used with water, and there is no staining. It is an intriguing and lovely example of art pottery.
