$150

These are very attractive spoons, 5.25 long, with a twisted shank terminating in a rounded flat end with a Japanesque bright-cut décor that is in keeping with other patterns ca. 1880. The bowls have raised ridges (to keep the ice cream from sticking?) and have very pale suggestions of original gold treatment. (I am reluctant to clean them more than superficially because of this.) Wood & Hughes was known for many specialty items, but this is not a pattern I have encountered – it is similar to Engraved #1 but a different flower; I suspect it was not a full-line pattern. While there is expected wear, there are no scratches, bends or dents or rough spots – overall quite good for their 130 years. They bear a script monogram “L” and are marked with the post-1871 W&H mark,“sterling,” and the name of the retailer, A. Poetz & Co. Weight for the 6 is 84 g
