BAVARIA GERMANY SMALL PORCELAIN JEWELRY TRAY
4’’ long x 3 ¼’’ wide porcelain small jewelry tray for the dresser or the vanity. Circa early 1930.
Very light pastel green under the glaze. In a gold circle with overlaid dots delicate transferwork of a courtesans couple from the 17th century. A group of gold hand painted tiny flowers and leaves in each corner. Also hand painted are the garlands on each side of that small tray.
This small tray was made in Germany in the factory located in Potschappel better known as Dresden. From the mark in the back, most likely the design comes from the artist Carl Thieme.
Some fading of the gold which is to be expected from an item that old but otherwise excellent condition.
