ABOUT: Offering this exceptional Antique late 1800s Tiffany & Co. Serving set in the Vine pattern with scalloped spoon and serving fork with a lovely scalloped edge above the slightly splayed tines. I also have a raspberry vine serving spoon. Please reach out if you are interested. The Vine pattern began production in 1872 and the designs are attributed to Edward Moore who was a designer and then director for Tiffany and Co. from 1868-1891. Tiffany's Vine line is a mulit-motif pattern in the Aesthetic movement with Japanese design influences. Here is the grapevine motif, in a serving set Lovely raised designs against a contrasting hammered / textured background. This pattern became obsolete in 1934 when all the dies were destroyed. Since it has long been discontinued and is made by one of our country's best makers, it will likely only go up in value. There is a small three initial monogram on the back of each piece, not visible when the table is set. MEASUREMENTS: The spoon measures 8 3/4" in length. The fork measures just under 9", about 8 7/8" in length. Feels quite a bit denser than some of my other more delicate pieces. Combined weight is 174 grams of solid sterling silver. MARKS: Marked Tiffany & Co. Sterling on the back and has the correct M date mark. IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES: Please note this set is in estate condition. I do see some surface wear and deeper utensil nicks and scratches in the spoon bowl and on the back of the spoon and fork tines. On the spoon bowl there are three deeper nicks in a row on the top center, and one linear very shallow ding less than a half centimeter in width. The fork has some utensil nicks on the tines. The set was clearly used and enjoyed through the years but with a nice polish to the spoon bowl and fork tines it cleaned up pretty nicely. There is also some wear to the smooth backs of the handles. Very little wear to the grapevine pattern - sometimes antique silver can wear down from use and polishing but these are still nice and crisp. It is mostly the spoon bowl and tines and backs of the handles where any wear is made more evident by the mirrored finish. But my disclaimer as always to these antique pieces, is that due to age - Please note this set is not in mint condition.
