ABOUT: Beautiful and whimsical Sterling silver Chatelaine or watch fob clip by George W. Shiebler in their highly collectible Etruscan Medallion motif, depicting three faces on medallions of varying sizes above a hammered background with a beautiful beaded edge outline on each medallion. The faces show in relief due to the matte textured background behind each face. The clip of the piece is also hammered. Incredible detail! I have a few Shielber brooch / pins and a chatelaine / watch fob clip by Unger so please check out my other listings! Similar listings have the Shiebler Medallion pieces dating to the late 1800s period so I am guessing it is sometime in that range, but would not be any newer than 1910 as that is when Shiebler was dissolved. Beautiful object of virtu that could be worn, or displayed in a prestigious Sterling Silver collection, as these pieces are highly sought after due to their unique hand finished design and will likely only go up in value. HALLMARKS: Piece is marked on the back with the Shiebler hallmark along with "Sterling" and the number 530. Also marked with the retailer mark of Theo B. Starr, who was a prominent retailer of that time. The inside of the little clasp is marked "Coin" IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES: Was polished when I received it so I didn't clean it any further. So there is some age appropriate tarnish around the beaded edge which I think adds depth. Some very faint surface wear and scratches, but not much by way of wear, it presents beautifully. No bends, dings or dents, no big scuffs from use and no deep scratches. Lots of years left in this highly collectible item. MEASUREMENTS: Nice size, Piece measures about 4 inches in length. The widest medallion is 1 3/8" and the clip on the back is 3 inches in length. It weighs a sturdy 37 grams of solid silver so this is not a flimsy or easily bendable piece. Very interesting and scarce piece! Please check out my other listings for high end sterling including including antique Tiffany & Co. sterling silver housewares!
