This is a heavy and eye catching cigarette case by Lutz and Weiss - a German firm that was founded in Pforzheim in 1882. It is .935 silver so Better than sterling silver purity / content. Awesome Art Deco styling with a bifold lid where you open the top first and then the bottom. It has a genuine blue cabochon sapphire on the top. Very sturdy piece with tight hinges that springs closed tightly if you are not holding it open. Very tight springs that hold itself tightly closed. Interior has a vibrant goldwash / vermeil. My husband and I use antique cigarette cases to carry our vitamins - how ironic! : ) So these pieces are still useful today! Marked .935 for Sterling silver content with the Lutz & Weiss hallmarks. In estate condition considering age with some surface wear here and there, some scuffs and scratches where the lid meets the bottom. I see one shallow indentation that is like a pinky finger imprint, not a sharp pin ding or deep dent, just a shallow impression that I tried to show in photos. Some areas of stubborn tarnish and surface wear, scuffs / scratches. No really deep distracting scratches, more just all over wear that is uniform from use. As with all my estate items - Please see photos closely as this is not a mint condition item. Measures about 3 1/2 inches by 3 inches and is about a 1/2 inch deep. It weighs a very sturdy 101 grams according to my little digital scale. It's a beauty!
