Apparently this pattern was first made by A.& W. Wood, and their dies were obtained by George Shiebler. Also seems some confusion over the spelling of the pattern - some sources calling it Clemantis, others Clematis. In any event, this is an absolutely beautiful sift ladle, measuring 7-1/4". It has never been monogrammed. The marks on the back are those of the retailer, J. COOK, along with the words PATENTED 1869. ...click for details

A rare and early example of Exeter silver - Pentecost Symonds, Exeter, ca. 1720. Hanoverian handle, rattail-back bowl. Measures a little over 13". Some of the marks worn but maker's mark and lion mark clear. Condition is good, but original monogram removed and gussied-up later mono added. Shipping and insurance $8.00.
