If you are a collector of this vintage china then you know how hard it is to find a set of these coasters. This set is in good condition consistent with age...dated 1961. The coasters have some loss of gold trim and one has a few places around the top where the gold trim is missing; makes it appear to have flea bites but I really don't feel any actual chips. One of the prettiest china patterns I have ever seen! Top rim is dark blue, next there is a wide rim of embossed gold and then a smaller gold line...absolutely beautiful! Piece is approximately 8 1/2" from spout to handle. Bottom reads "AYNSLEY, Made in England, Fine English Bone China, Est. 1775" and has the pattern name in gold "Cobalt Royale". The colors in this set remind me of Japanese Chokin art...the work isn't as intricate but is trimmed in the beautiful 24K fired on gold. The flower is an iris and in several shades of copper and has a lustre finish. The pale moss green and gold leaves also have a lustre effect. Very nice work. Pfaltzgraff began making the Wyndham pattern in 1985 and it was retired as of 6/30/03 making these pieces harder to find. The accessory pieces pictured are all in very good condition and reasonably priced (compare to a popular replacement site).
