Pretty strawberries on a creamy white background. Usually when you see these vintage canisters, there will only be one or two and not in very good condition. Not only is this the complete set but even includes a pair of matching salt and pepper shakers! And all in very good condition. No chips, nicks or broken corners. This set speaks of a simpler time...these six shakers contained the only taste enhancers we used! They have hand-painted roosters on ceramic with age crazing of the glaze, typical for an item this age. Cork stoppers in bottom. One is stamped JAPAN on the bottom. Wooden cabinet still could use some cleaning; measures 7 3/8" across front and back is 8 1/2" high. I can barely see the original price sticker on back reading $1.98! ...click for details

Compact spice set with 6 milk glass jars with a pattern. Screw-on lids with separate, removable shaker insert. Bottles are marked on the bottom MaLeck, Wingate, NC. Bottles are 3 5/8" high; there are a few short splits in the lids but are not brittle or falling apart. The tops almost have a rubber-like feel. Unusual ceramic donkey and cart in a beautiful, transparent honey gold glaze. Holds your napkins, tooth picks and salt and pepper in one handy place. Shakers lift off, napkins fit in a slot on one side, toothpick holder is on other. And he is just as cute as can be! What a conversation piece! Although not marked, I feel this is an older made-in-Japan piece. And in perfect condition with a couple of the usual manufacturer's blips. No damage.
