Item Condition: We are pleased to offer for sale this seldom found large round Zipper Canister. This piece is in Undamaged Condition without chips, cracks, or mold damage. However, for those not familiar with these early Sellers canisters, you need to be aware that these canisters came complete with bubbles and tiny mold flaws that are inherent properties of this type of glassware. True to its nature this canister has tiny bubbles trapped in the glass, but there are no open bubbles or chipped areas. The zipper pattern is well defined. The tin lid does have some wear from age -- it is in excellent condition, but there are a couple of tiny areas where rust is showing. It is also dull from age. Please look at the photos of the jar with the lid. You will be able to tell how well preserved this lid is from taking a look at them. Description / About: Zipper Large Round Canister- 7 1/4" H. - 7 3/4" W.
The Sneath Glass Company was commissioned by The G. I. Sellers Cabinet Company to produced this beautiful canister exclusively for use in Sellers kitchen cabinets (cupboards). This style canister is often found with a metal holder. Two other Zipper canisters with screw lids were made to go with this striking piece. There were also spice and salt and peppers made with screw lids.
