Fenton RARE RUBY OVERLAY Diamond Optic Decanter

We are pleased to offer for sale a very pretty ruby overlay (cranberry) Diamond Optic Decanter. This lovely piece is very rare. We are offering it to you via mail order because of this. This stunning piece was made by the The Fenton Art Glass Company . It was introduced into the line in the early 40s. We don't have an exact date because it is not found in the Fenton inventory records. We know it was made for a very short time. These decanters have an inherent design flaw that all the decanters we have seen have had (no damage--please read the following). There is a very narrow ring a the junction of the crystal and cranberry overlay point where the stopper rests. The bottom of the decanter bulges out from this point and there is little stability given to the stopper. Therefore, the stopper rocks about the support ring and it is somewhat difficult to keep it perfectly vertical. The stopper does fit properly and will not drop through the neck of the bottle. This beautiful RARE decanter is in UNDAMAGED CONDITION without chips or cracks. It is free of disfiguring mold or production imperfections. The inside of the bottle is nice and clear. There is a small line about a half inch long in the crystal collar of the bottle. This appears to be either a tool mark or a shear mark. It is not a crack. Thanks for checking out our listings.
