Featheredged oval-end handle, c1780 -- reverse tipt, shaded block mono M P on front; 4-7/8" in length. New England birdbacks are rarely seen, CT even rarer, Fairchild being the only CT maker with his mark on a birdie that we've seen. Condition of the spoon is excellent. One wishes that Master Fairchild had exercised a bit more exuberance when striking the bird, but, as they say, it is what it is, which ain't bad.

Dimensions as follows: cup 2-5/8" high, saucer 5-1/4" diameter; total weight is an imposing 7.25 Troy oz. Condition is excellent throughout. This particular pictureback seems to be unique with David. The flower is contained within an ornate scroll cartouche. The image is in excellent condition, retaining its original crispness. So too with the spoon itself: the extended bowl tip is unworn, the oval-end handle having a prominent reverse rib, and with the feathered script mono M L on the front.
