This piece was probably made in Philadelphia, c1815-20, after the dynamic duo had left Boston. It has a downturned fiddle handle, square shoulders, an oversized drop on the bowl back, and a reverse rib on the back of the handle. Mono is MSA in a feathered script on front of the handle. An oval bowl is 4-14" at its widest point. The ladle is quite hefty -- over 6.5 T oz. Condition is minty.

Made by R & W Wilson and shipped west. Forward-tipt fiddle handles with high pointed shoulders; script engraving on front: Ray Co. A. S.; 5-1/4" long. Condition is excellent. A search discloses only one Ray County in the U.S. of A., and that honor belongs to Missouri. Ray Co. is in the western part of the state, not far from Kansas City.

Mustard ladle, c1810-20 -- This is a 4-3/4"-long piece with an extraordinarily long (2-1/2") fiddle; it has square shoulders and a tiny (3/4") oval bowl. Mono, as shown, is T E C in feathered script. One would think that a smith, or a partnership of smithies, with a 3-letter mark would be easy to find. Not so. We went thru the B's in Kovel and other silver books to no avail. Then we did the same with the A's, thinking it might be a 3-person partnership. Still no luck. Shame, that...

On the basis of style (wide stubby fiddle handle and unusual high angular shoulders), we've attributed this piece to B.B. Hastings of Cleveland. The ladle is 6-1/8" long and the mono is I.A.A. in feathered script. Aside from an incompletely struck mark, condition is excellent.

Made by E. Jaccard & Co., St. Louis -- at 8-7/8" in length, it is a mid-sized ladle suitable for serving soup out of a small crock, or gravy out of a large bowl, or grog out of a middlin'-sized cup, or perhaps it is an oyster ladle used to pluck the briny shellfish out of whatever they are served in. In the event, it is a neat piece, with a pinched-waist fiddle handle, high pointed shoulders and a 2-7/8" oval bowl, and engraved on the front the letters B.C.A.M.A...
