Oval-end handles, c1795 -- brightcutting and roulette work entire length of handle, block mono in I C in cartouche on front; 9" in length. Birds are a tad worn but spoons are in great shape, brightcutting still crisp, marks (M&R) as clear as the day they were struck.

Downturned fiddle handle, no shoulders, drop, shaded old English S on front; 5-1/2" long. Condition is excellent. Franciscus worked in Baltimore from 1810-18, and from 1819-40 in Lancaster, PA. These spoons are fully marked with a shield, the dominical letter A (which denotes 1815 as the year it was made), and the head of liberty. It is rare to find Franciscus silver so clearly associated with Baltimore, the city of his birth.

Rare form in American silver. this piece was made about 1840 -- 4" diameter bowl with cast handle and hook for suspending the strainer over punch bowl. Length over handle is 5-5/8". Marked J.CONNING MOBILE (see pix. Condition is excellent throughout.

Hand-raised baluster-form urns on circular pedestal base, cast foliate handles, body with repousse flowers, foliage and scrolls surrounding reserves on both sides, one with a feathered script mono F V, the other vacant. Handle height is 4-3/4:, diameter 4-1/2", and weight 18 Troy oz. Condition is excellent.

Set $1250 

Made by Ball, Tompkins & Black, NYC, c1845 -- consists of 12 forks, 7" in length, and 11 knives with silver blades, 8-1/4" long (still looking for that elusive 12th knife). They all have hollow handles and have an old English mono M D on their handles. Total weight is 49 Troy oz. Condition is quite good, with the handles having the usual dings, nothing serious.
