Rare form in American silver. this piece was made about 1840 -- 4" diameter bowl with cast handle and hook for suspending the strainer over punch bowl. Length over handle is 5-5/8". Marked J.CONNING MOBILE (see pix. Condition is excellent throughout.

Hand-raised baluster-form urns on circular pedestal base, cast foliate handles, body with repousse flowers, foliage and scrolls surrounding reserves on both sides, one with a feathered script mono F V, the other vacant. Handle height is 4-3/4:, diameter 4-1/2", and weight 18 Troy oz. Condition is excellent.

Made by John Peirce, Boston c1820 -- both arms marked PEIRCE. He is listed in the 1821 Boston Directory as an optician. These specs have temples with swing-arm extensions, which measure 6" when fully extended. Length across the lenses is 4-1/2". Condition throughout is excellent.

This is a copy of the original by John Dixwell of Boston, who died in 1725 at age 45. Original is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (see pix of inscriptions on bottom of cup). This piece was made in the 1940s. It is 3-1/4" high x 2-7/8" diameter at flared rim. Weight is a solid 6 T oz. It has an S-scroll reeded strap handle and a reeded band at the base. It is engraved Alana June in script on the front. Condition is excellent throughout.

Made by Haddock, Lincoln & Foss, c1850 - typical boat form with reeded band applied at rim; script presentation at rear: ERC/from/SCS; 4-1/2" long x 2-3/4" wide. Condition is excellent throughout, including the planishing marks inside. This is a fine replication of a classic 18thC form.

Oval form, 13-1/2" x 8-3/4", with applied twisted "rope" bands at rim and pedestal base, with rope handles at either end (see pic). This piece was never engraved and is in near-mint condition; it weighs 17 Troy oz. The date it was made is cited in the usual Gale signature; it is also marked "Sterling," an affectation of the mid-19thC, as there were no assay offices in the U.S. until about 1865.
