Made by Gorham, PATENT 1861, retailed by D.C. Jaccard, St. Louis (see pic) -- gold-washed bowl, script mono Silver Wedding on front; 8-1/2" long. Condition is excellent throughout.

Beading pattern on front and back; gothic mono M J S on front; 14" in length, 4-3/8" oval bowl, over 7.5 T oz in weight. Condition is minty. Beaded-edge forks and spoons also available.

Baluster form with knurled band applied at base, feathered script mono C on side; 3-1/2" tall, 3" diameter at rim. Later date 1822 engraved on bottom (see pic). Overall condition is excellent. Similar, although smaller, pair of beakers is shown on p. 24 of "Simple Elegance," a catalog of Newburyport silversmiths published by the Historical Society of Old Newbury.

Downturned fiddle handle, pointed shoulders, drop, feathered script C.J.L. on front; 6" long. Condition is excellent, bowl tip unworn.

Pointed-end handle, feathered script mono LW on front; 9" in length. Bird and spoon in excellent condition.

Oval-end handle, c1800 -- feathered script mono T H C on front; 8-1/2" long. This spoon is also marked IWG for John Ward Gethen, also of Philly, which presents a bit of a puzzle. Both Black and Gethen were silversmiths, the first starting his career in 1795, the latter in 1811. It could be that Gethen added the piece to his inventory and sold it out of his shop. The spoon is in excellent condition, the extended bowl tip unworn...

Brightcut length of oval-end handle, feathered script mono LB in cartouche on front; 5-3/4" long. Condition is near-mint throughout. Bird with wreath in beak. Note left wing at the very edge if the bowl.

Oval-end handle, block mono M * C on front; 5-3/4" in length. Bird and spoon are quite good -- all the feathers in place and bowl tip unworn.

Oval-end handle, block mono B over T L on front; 5-7/8" in length. Bird is lightly struck, but all of its parts seem to be intact. Condition of spoon is excellent, no tipwear.

Crisp spread-wing bird on back of bowl, oval-end handle, feathered script mono H C on front; 5-1/4" long. Condition is near-mint -- both spoon and bird.

Brightcut and roulette work length of handle, shaded feathered script mono R G in cartouche; 5-3/4" long. Condition of spoon is excellent, bird is very good.

Oval-end handle, c1795 -- feathered script mono EP on front; 5-5/8" long. Bird and spoon in fine condition.
