Double-swell fiddle handle with large flared shoulders, marked by N. J. Gilman of Portland, Maine, c1850-60. Presentation on front of handle: Mr. & Mrs. John Brackett / to / Mr. & Mrs. H. M. Brackett. The ladle is 13-1/2" long with a 4-1/4" oval bowl and weighs an imposing 8-1/2" Troy oz. Overall condition is excellent.

Made about 1850 -- interesting mono on front of handle -- Tudor (see pic); 8" in length, 9-1/2 Troy oz. Condition is excellent.

Interesting double-swell fiddle handles, unusual for midwest and southern silver; pointed shoulders, feathered script mono I S B on front; 5-7/8" in length. Excellent condition. Boultinghouse lists William and Archibald Cooper as forming their partnership in 1836 in Cincinnati, probably moving across the river to Louisville the next year. The mark on these spoons is terrific (see pic), not shown in Boultinghouse.

Pot, spouted creamer and sugar bowl -- globular form, pot on circular ring, creamer and sugar each on 4 cast feet. Pot marked by Harris, Stanwood & Co., Boston, c1845. Total weight is 40 T oz.

The wreath pattern came into existence in Philadelphia about the same time as the sheaf-of-wheat and basket-of-flowers patterns. It never caught on outside Philly. Each of these 5 is in near-mint condition, the wreath crisp, the bowl tips unworn. The mono is L H F in feathered script. They have pointed shoulders and there is a drop on the bowl back. Length is 6".

Probably made in the year of its patent - 1871. The set consists of 12 dinner forks, 12 luncheon forks, 12 tablespoons, 12 dessert spoons and 12 teaspoons -- a total of 60 pieces with a weight of 77 T oz. NOTE: As often occurs with antique sets of silver, there are no knives. Replacement knives are usually modern, often pistol-handled.

Eagle-&-shield design in sharp relief on bowl back (as shown); oval-end handle, c1810 -- reverse rib, feathered script mono J L on front; 5-3/4" in length. Condition of both bird and spoon is near-mint.

Made by J.P. & Co., London -- 18th-century man-o'-war with all sails aloft -- forward-tipt handle ends, never monogrammed, 4-3/4" in length; all in mint condition.

Pinched-waist fiddle handles, pointed shoulders, feathered script mono M P on front; 5-1/2" in length. Condition is near-mint throughout, extended bowl tips unworn.

Oval-end handle, block mono B over T L on front; 5-7/8" in length. Bird is lightly struck, but all of its parts seem to be intact. Condition of spoon is excellent, no tipwear.

Gothic pattern, c1862 -- shaped blade with a scalloped upper edge. Blade is engraved with scrolls and foliage. The piece has never been engraved. It is 12-1/8" in length and is in near-mint condition.

Forward-tipt pattern, huge flared shoulders; shaped pierced blade with scalloped edge. This slice was never engraved. It is 12-1/2" long and weights 5 T oz. Condition is near-mint.
