Downturned fiddle-handled teaspoons, c1810 -- no shoulders, strong reverse rib, ornate feathered script mono D M B on front. Length is 5-3/4". Condition is near-mint -- extended bowl tips unworn, birds with all of their feathers

Forward-tipt fiddle handle, c1840 -- high sugarloaf shoulders, feathered script mono L C lightly engraved on reverse. Length is 8-1/4". Weight is a hefty 17.5 T oz. Some tinewear, otherwise condition is fine.

Forward-tipt pattern, huge flared shoulders; shaped pierced blade with scalloped edge. This slice was never engraved. It is 12-1/2" long and weights 5 T oz. Condition is near-mint.

Pinched-waist fiddle handle, c1850 -- pointed shoulders, feathered script mono A on front; 9-1/8" long, 11.5 T oz. Condition is excellent.

Made in Rising Sun, IN, c1830 -- short rounded-end handle, large chunky shoulders, feathered script mono JTC on front; 5-1/2" long. Light tipwear. Best worked in Paris, KY, and Cincinnati before settling down in Rising Sun, which is on the KY border and just a step from Cincy.

Early downturned fiddle handles, no shoulders, prominent crescent drop on bowl back, feathered script mono M B C L on front. Length is 8-3/4". Weight is 3 T oz. 8 dwt. Condition is near-mint, extended bowl tips unworn.

Marked A. S. DEVONDORF. Almond Smith Devendorf was a "merchant" in Galesburg from c1845-70. As such, he retailed these teaspoons to O. McBride. According to John McGrew, the bust in an inverted heart suggests that they were made in Connecticut. All 12 spoons are in mint condition -- probably never used. The handles are in the forward-tipt fiddle pattern, with flared shoulders. Length is 6-1/4". Weight is 7.25 T. oz.

Double-swell fiddle handle, script mono E M on reverse, 7-3/8" long. Heavy set of spoons, at just under 9 T. oz. Condition is near-mint. Also marked on back "Fine" (see pic).

Double-swell fiddle handle with large flared shoulders, marked by N. J. Gilman of Portland, Maine, c1850-60. Presentation on front of handle: Mr. & Mrs. John Brackett / to / Mr. & Mrs. H. M. Brackett. The ladle is 13-1/2" long with a 4-1/4" oval bowl and weighs an imposing 8-1/2" Troy oz. Overall condition is excellent.
