Early downturned fiddle handles, no shoulders, prominent crescent drop on bowl back, feathered script mono M B C L on front. Length is 8-3/4". Weight is 3 T oz. 8 dwt. Condition is near-mint, extended bowl tips unworn.

Oval-end handle, c1795 -- feathered script mono EP on front; 5-5/8" long. Bird and spoon in fine condition.

Brightcut length of oval-end handle, feathered script mono LB in cartouche on front; 5-3/4" long. Condition is near-mint throughout. Bird with wreath in beak. Note left wing at the very edge if the bowl.

Baluster form with knurled band applied at base, feathered script mono C on side; 3-1/2" tall, 3" diameter at rim. Later date 1822 engraved on bottom (see pic). Overall condition is excellent. Similar, although smaller, pair of beakers is shown on p. 24 of "Simple Elegance," a catalog of Newburyport silversmiths published by the Historical Society of Old Newbury.

Downturned fiddle handle, sugarloaf shoulders, feathered script mono E L on front; 12-7/8" in length. Overall condition is fine. Mark is I.WELCH, as listed in Hollan's "Virginia Silversmiths." Fincastle, then as now, is a small town a tad northwest of Roanoke.

Classic coffin-end form with handle tapering from end to bowl, c1800-10 -- fancy feathered script mono M M on front of handle, 1/8" extended bowl tip is unworn. Length is 9-3/8". Weight is 2.5 T oz. Condition throughout is mint.

Double-swell fiddle handle, c1860 -- flared shoulders, feathered script mono G B on front; 8-3/4" long, 1.75 T oz. Condition is near-mint, extended bowl tip unworn. Bailey is listed in Fredyma's Director of Maine Silversmiths. His name, previously unrecorded, was found in a compilation of newspapers, etc., of the period.

Long front rib, c1760 -- double molded drop on bowl back, block mono D=C on reverse; 4-3/4" in length. Mark a bit weak, but it's all there and quite readable (see pix). Overall condition is fine.

Pointed-end handle, c1790 -- drop on bowl back, reverse tipt, feathered script mono AM with decorative flower on front (see closeup), one with engraved numeral 1 at tip of handle, second with the number 5. Length is 6". Both in near-mint condition.

Pointed-end handle, c1790 -- drop on bowl back, block mono F over F * H on front; 6-1/8" long. Teething marks in bowl, other condition is excellent.

Classic coffin-end design with handle tapering from end to bowl, c1800 -- roulette V-drop on bowl back, feathered script mono R on front; 5-5/8" long. Condition is excellent throughout.

Long tapering handle, c1810 -- incised pointed arch drop, reverse rib, feathered script mono LT on front; 7-3/8" in length. Overall condition is excellent.
