This is a transitional mark between the start-up Gorham Co. & Brown in 1856 and the present-day Tilden-Thurber Co. The corporate name was changed to Henry T. Brown in 1878, and 2 years later Tilden-Thurber was formed. The history is contained in Rainwater's "Encyclopedia" in the T-T entry. Shepherd & Boyd made this piece. It has a downturned fiddle handle, square shoulders, an incised pointed arch drop, and the family name is in script on the front of the handle. Length is 6", overall condition is very good, and the mark is excellent. Price is $25.
