Downturned fiddle handles, low pointed shoulders, incised pointed arch drop on bowl back, feathered script L F on front, later script C.F.B. on reverse; 5-5/8" in length. Condition is excellent, extended bowl tips unworn.

Forward-tipt handle with light front rib -- long tongue drop on bowl back, with shaded block mono P over I * S on reverse. Bunker's BB touch is accompanied by his definitive and unique scroll-like pseudos (see pix). Except for slight tipwear (see closeup of bowl), the spoon is in excellent condition. Length is 9-1/8", weight is just shy of 2 T oz. This is one of Bunker's earliest works.

Made by H.A. & E.G. Kelley, who, with their father, set up shop in Nantucket in 1825. Description of spoons as follows: downturned fiddle handles, flared shoulders, feathered script mono JCFC on front; 6" in length, mint condition, extended bowl tips unworn, in original leatherette case.

Marked PITMAN in serrated rectangle, one of the marks used by Saunders Pitman of Providence. Yet Saunders died in 1804 - he couldn't have made this spoon. Then who? His son, John K. Pitman, who was trained by his dad, worked with his pop, and simply continued to use the "family punch." Son Pitman is listed in the Flynt & Fales tome on New England silversmiths, but no mark is attributed to him. This is it! Plus, probably, all the other marks attributed to Saunders. Hinckley worked in Barnstable. This piece has a pointed-end handle with a 9-lobe shell drop and with brightcutting half way down the handle. Mono is block A * B in a cartouche on the front. Length is 5-3/8". Condition is fine.
