John Schuyler Walter was born in Freehold, NJ, worked in Matawan, NJ, and NYC, and then skedaddled to Butler County, OH, which borders Indiana, just north of Cincinnati. These tongs were made about 1830, which puts them in Walter's NJ-NY period. The tongs are 6-1/4" long and quite heavy. They have scalloped fiddle arms and oval nips. The feathered script mono on the bend seems to be ETHC. Condition is excellent throughout.
