Pair $350 

Classic tapering handle from end to bowl, c1800 -- pointed drop on bowl back, feathered script mono A B on front; 9-1/4" in length. Weight is 3.5 T oz. A touch of tipwear and a slight test nick on one of the handles, otherwise fine condition. William Coffin Little was born in Newburyport, Mass., and worked in nearby Amesbury until 1801 when he moved to Salisbury, NH, where these spoons were probably made.

Brightcut length of oval-end handle, feathered script mono LB in cartouche on front; 5-3/4" long. Condition is near-mint throughout. Bird with wreath in beak. Note left wing at the very edge if the bowl.

Baluster form with knurled band applied at base, feathered script mono C on side; 3-1/2" tall, 3" diameter at rim. Later date 1822 engraved on bottom (see pic). Overall condition is excellent. Similar, although smaller, pair of beakers is shown on p. 24 of "Simple Elegance," a catalog of Newburyport silversmiths published by the Historical Society of Old Newbury.

Downturned fiddle handle, sugarloaf shoulders, feathered script mono E L on front; 12-7/8" in length. Overall condition is fine. Mark is I.WELCH, as listed in Hollan's "Virginia Silversmiths." Fincastle, then as now, is a small town a tad northwest of Roanoke.

Double-swell fiddle handle, c1860 -- flared shoulders, feathered script mono G B on front; 8-3/4" long, 1.75 T oz. Condition is near-mint, extended bowl tip unworn. Bailey is listed in Fredyma's Director of Maine Silversmiths. His name, previously unrecorded, was found in a compilation of newspapers, etc., of the period.
