Set of 3 spoons -- Description: High pointed shoulders, drop, feathered script mono E F W within wreath; 5-7/8", excellent condition. The wreath pattern came along at about the same time as basket-of-flowers, etc., and apparently was made only in Philadelphia. There are half a dozen of so smiths associated with the pattern. Our stock in wreath consists of tablespoons and teaspoons, in sets and individuals, by most if not all of the makers.
This is a rare variation on the coffin-end style, and it appears to be limited to Utica silversmiths. Instead of the handle end being clipped, it was given notched corners. This piece is in excellent condition, has a feathered script mono E G on its front, and is 9" in length.
Coffin-fiddle spoon with drop and reverse rib; brightcut and roulette work down front of handle, feathered script mono H G in cartouche; 9" long, minor tipwear.
