Set of 12 18thC-style brightcut luncheon forks
Set of 12 $750
Marked by S.T. Crosby & Co., Boston, c1850, also marked Pure Coin -- brightcutting and roulette work extends half-way down handle; Masonic-like symbols engraved in brightcut cartouche on front. Length is 6-7/8", weight is 17 Troy oz. A touch of tinewear, otherwise condition is excellent. NOTE: It is probably a bit artful to described these forks as "18thC-style." When forks were used at all in the 18th century, they most probably consisted of steel tines and wooden handles. The decoration on these forks, however, blends nicely with 18thC brightcut spoons and other flatware.
