Sterling BELL TOWER by Tiffany
16" tall, 13" across base, 74 Troy oz. We understand that this piece was designed at the Tiffany studio in the 1960s and that it was fabricated in Italy. What better home base for a campanile!
As shown, the body consists of 8 S-scroll vertical straps on 8 ball feet. Two horizontal straps are connected to the vertical strip with silver rivets. Atop the body is an onion-shaped dome, formed by another 8 S-scroll straps. The bell hangs inside the body, connected to the handle above with 3 machined silver parts. The piece is marked on the bottom of one of its feet: TIFFANY & CO. and STERLING. Condition is excellent throughout. The intended use of the tower, with its clarion call, is most probably to call the polo and/or croquet players out on the back 40 to lunch and dinner.
