In Alfred Philippe's floral series created between 1938 and 1942, he often used two shades of goldtone on his fur clips. On this carnation, the leaves are a shiny Florentine goldtone finish and the petals of the flower have an
almost airbrushed effect with a goldwash over top of the goldtone. Numerous
pave stones are scattered through the clip and all are original and bright; no
darkening or yellowing of any of the stones has occurred over the years. The
back has a full goldwash with only minor wear. Well sized at 3" x 1 1/2", this early Alfred Philippe piece is in excellent vintage condition and a great collector piece.
