WOW!!! This is an exceptional piece of HISTORY! It is an original invitation to the unveiling of Admiral David Glasgow Farragut's statue in Washington, D.C. USA. David Farragut is recognized as the first US Admiral and is a prominent figure in history. On the invitation on the left hand side is a picture of various arms and flags with a banner that reads New Orleans Mobile Bay. On the upper right hand corner there is a picture of the Admiral and the interesting thing about him, is that his uniform has one button undone, I'm not sure if this was standard, or sloppy dressing :)The invitation reads as follows: The honor of your presence is requested at Farragut Square in the City of Washington, D.C. on the 25th April 1881, to witness the unveiling of the statue erected by the Government of the United States in memory of Admiral David Glasgow Farragut. David D. Porter,(Admiral), S.C. Rowan,(Vice Admiral), John Rodgers(Rear Admiral), J.L. Worden(Rear Admiral), C.R.P. Rodgers(Rear Admiral), Master W.C. Babcock(Secretary of the Board). It is guaranteed authentic and was purchased from an estate here in Texas. It is a must have for all you history buffs. Due to the possibility of photocopying, this item is nonreturnable. ~Enjoy!
