This is a wonderful and mysterious example of the Reverse Painting technique. It features a man on horse back with lots of red, green and blue plumes. At the top of the picture it has a gold banner that reads: "Anguienus Dux, Indorum Rex", which after research talks about a duke and a king or a duke becoming a king. Some of the words are not accessible on the internet which leads me to believe that this is a very, very old piece. It has a wonderful satin black frame that has an interior gold trim. It measures 17 1/4 X 20. Due to age and handling the frame has receive a few small nicks. Overall this is a truly wonderful item. It would look lovely with our item #00282. ~Enjoy!
