This is a wonderful rare antique book, part of the Elsie Books series by Martha Finley called " Elsie and the Raymonds". It is a first edition by Dodd, Mead and Company Publishers of New York, copyrighted 1889. It has a maroon cloth board cover that is embossed with pansies and butterflies. The spine has gold embossed letters. It is in pretty good condition for it's age. All the pages are pretty tight and the cover and spine are secure. It does have a dedication on 2nd page that says Edith B. Law from Papa November 15th 1889, and on the first page it says Edith White Sept. 30th 1931, The very back inside cover has the same name Edith White Sept. 30-1931 Huntsville, Alabama. On page 44 at the bottom of the page again it is written Edith B. Law. That is the only writing in the book. A few of pages have a bit of discoloration, but not real bad. The cover has a small amount of fraying to the top and bottom edge of the spine and two cuts to the spine as well, but they are clean cuts and probably easily repaired. The cover needs cleaning, but I don't have the knowledge to do that. I don't have much knowledge about books so I am trying to describe what it looks like as well as I can. It is an auction piece.I am also listing another Elsie book in this series. I believe it is a work of fiction for women.
