Here is a wonderful Medallion coin silver asparagus tongs in very good condition. Not even a monogram. Engraving still sharp, showing no excessive wear. The medallions could be identified and thence the silversmith, there were only a handful. But that is pretty subjective and I don't wish to claim that authority. Dimensions: 10.5" long, 2.1" at its widest. Weight: 5.2 Troy oz.

A good coin silver fiddle pattern butter knife by James Conning of Mobile, Alabama made about 1840. Scrolled monogram which appears to be "B McL". Readable marks, except that Mobile has lost the last three letters through wear. Slight surface abrasions. Length: 7.6".

It is amazing that this set has survived intact, almost, all these years through the ravages of history and the Civil War. The set comprises a finely engraved slice and twelve spoons with fluted bowls, all with spiral stems. There is a fitted box but its not in the best of health these days. It is missing one end but the hinge is and it does shut. All the pieces are in wonderful condition except for a hairline crack about 0.25" long and a couple of dings in the bowl of one spoon. The damag ...click for details

Quite an early, robust marrow scoop with crisp clear hallmarks, for London 1739, maker John Jacob. The earlier scoops did tend to be heavier but, due to age, did suffer from rubbed, illegible hallmarks. That is what is so exciting, if one could find marrow scoops exciting, about this example. It has all the features you desire: good age, good gauge, good marks. Dimensions: 8.75" long. 2 Troy.oz.

Here is a very fine sample of her work. Very fine bright-cut decoration on the shanks terminating in acorn-shaped tips. Bears a contemporary monogram 'S' or 'T'. Marked with the maker's mark, Lion Passant for sterling and the Sovereign's Head. There is no Date Letter which is quite acceptable for smaller 18th century articles, though this piece can be dated to 1784/85 by the shape of the Sovereign's Head. This shape was in use between December 1784 and May 1785. The ...click for details

A very good item for the Bateman collector. Here is a fine basting spoon in very good condition hallmarked for London 1771 by Hester Bateman. Decorated with fine wrigglework engraving which hardly shows any signs of wear over the last 234 years. No monogram, no tip wear and no apologies. 11" long.

This is quite a robust coin ladle in the fiddle and thread pattern by a firm I had not encountered before, Bennett & Bros, 586 Broadway. I addition on the rear of the fiddle there is an inscribed date of 1852, presumably from when it dates. The top face of the fiddle has had a monogram removed. It has been very professionally done because, at first, one, that's me, would think it was the designed curvature of the handle. The area has even acquired its own patina. I wish my silversmith wa ...click for details

An early pair of Georgian sterling tablespoons by the Lady herself, dated 1787. They are fully marked and bear a scrolling monogram EL. One is in extremely good condition without any tipwear and the other one has been used ! Well its not that bad. Slight tip-wear, a couple of dings in the bowl and a just discernible maker's mark. 8.5" long.
