Here is a wonderful Medallion coin silver asparagus tongs in very good condition. Not even a monogram. Engraving still sharp, showing no excessive wear. The medallions could be identified and thence the silversmith, there were only a handful. But that is pretty subjective and I don't wish to claim that authority. Dimensions: 10.5" long, 2.1" at its widest. Weight: 5.2 Troy oz.

Moses Eastman was born in Concord, NH in 1794 but by 1826 had formed a 2-year partnership with J. Penfield in Savannah, GA. The same J. Penfield had just terminated a 6-year partnership with another great Savannah silversmith, Frederick Marquand. After this partnership ended in 1828, Eastman continued on his own till his death in 1850. He had three known marks: Eastman, M.Eastman and M.Eastman with L and a trefoil. This ladle has a plain oval bowl and a upturned fiddle terminal, monogramed on t ...click for details

This is a very attractive set, of fish knife and fork, by Hyde & Goodrich, New Orleans c.1850. The knife has a pierced blade profusely engraved with scrolls and floral decoration around a vignette of an island scene. The fork blade too is similarly densely engraved on both sides. The handle of each is double-struck with a reeded decoration ending in an upturned oval terminal. The original monogram has been expertly removed before the existing one was engraved. It is unfortunate but it is not ...click for details

A very good item for the Bateman collector. Here is a fine basting spoon in very good condition hallmarked for London 1771 by Hester Bateman. Decorated with fine wrigglework engraving which hardly shows any signs of wear over the last 234 years. No monogram, no tip wear and no apologies. 11" long.

This is quite a robust coin ladle in the fiddle and thread pattern by a firm I had not encountered before, Bennett & Bros, 586 Broadway. I addition on the rear of the fiddle there is an inscribed date of 1852, presumably from when it dates. The top face of the fiddle has had a monogram removed. It has been very professionally done because, at first, one, that's me, would think it was the designed curvature of the handle. The area has even acquired its own patina. I wish my silversmith wa ...click for details

Very handsome tongs with a big clear medalion. I am not sure whether they are for sugar or ice, as they are medium size. "G" monogram on opposite face to medalion. 7.5" long.
