These are really stunning napkin rings very finely engraved in the aesthetic style with birds and bugs amidst an assortment of foliage against a stippled background. Each has a cartouche which bears a crest of a lion and the numbers 1 to 4. Fully hallmarked for Frederick Elkington, Birmingham 1876/7. 1.25" wide and 1.75" in diameter.

A very good item for the Bateman collector. Here is a fine basting spoon in very good condition hallmarked for London 1771 by Hester Bateman. Decorated with fine wrigglework engraving which hardly shows any signs of wear over the last 234 years. No monogram, no tip wear and no apologies. 11" long.

This is a fabulous cup. I have been admiring the sheer extravagance of the workmanship for the past week and I am beginning to feel like Gollum and the Ring. The center has two panels of mythological scenes. One is of Diana the huntress. The other is of Apollo-Helios, the Sun God, also known as Sol Invictus. Both are on horse-driven chariots surrounded by nymphs. The scenes are of such high relief they practically leap out of the cup. These panels are swathed with heavy floral wreaths. A very good cowrie shell snuff box in almost faultless condition. None of the usual problems apply to this fine example: no fading of the pattern, no cracks in the shell, no splits or holes in the sterling mount, internal gold-wash still intact, fully hallmarked. Made by Ian Aldridge, London 1804. Adorned with decorative contemporary monogram. 2.875" by 2.375" by 1.5" deep.

A superb pair of cased Victorian fish servers with large, carved ivory handles each centered with a fish. The sterling fork blade is engraved with scrollwork, while the sterling knife blade is engraved with a dragon and a dolphin. Made by Thomas Smily, London 1872. Knife is 12.75" long, fork 10.5".

This is a very good quality but highly intriguing set. There are 2 decanters and 10 cups with identical engraving and 2 other cups, indentical in form, size and wrigglework along the rim, but lacking the crest and having a monogram 'D'. They are well executed in the Oriental style with very fine engraved decoration, but bear a Western crest of a raised lion clutching a curved spear/axe above a motto ' CONSTANS CONTRARIA SPERNIT'. A cute little sterling bookmark made by the prolific S.Mordan. Hallmarked for Chester 1909. Adorned by a very realistic fox head, like too many of the large estates in the UK. Maybe we will be seeing more of the fox (in numbers and in body) in the future. Bears the mono CL. 4.875".
