An amazing set of 6 fish knives and fish forks with engraved sterling blades and ivory shibyama handles, cased in a Coramandel, I think, box. The blades are engraved in the Japanese taste with flowers, birds and bees, while the handles are applied with similar gold decoration and inset semi-precious stone accents. The entire set is perfect, no splits in the handles or box, no missing bits, no monograms. Even the box has the key. Two of the fork blades have extruded from the handles by about 1mm and 2mm. They are not loose and there are no splits in the handles.
The blades are fully hallmarked for makers Joseph Angell and Joseph Savory, London 1884.
The knives measure 8.75" and the forks 7.5".
