Here is a very fine early Georgian mug in exceptional condition. It has a wonderful patina and is free of any dents, repairs or any form of mishandling. In fact, it appears to have been treasured all its 271 years. It was made in London in 1736 by John or Joseph Clare. It has a magnificent coat of arms belonging to Rev. Edmond Hopper Carlis and the motto below it translates to:
"A subject faithful to the King and the safety of the Kingdom"
Dimensions: Height 4", base diameter 3.25". Weight 10 Troy oz.
