Item #SS3J19

Another good example of Irish silversmithing. Typically, these bowls were made over 100 years previously but, being in such great demand, they have been reproduced since to this very day. This one was made by John Smyth of Dublin in 1892, and is a very pretty and well-made article. It is chased with a rural setting of a dog rescuing, I hope, a person while the mother/wife looks on with her arms raised in relief. The rest of the bowl is chased with a tranquil scene of swans and ducks amidst reeds and other aquatic plants. It is supported on three feet adorned with lion heads. It is in wonderful condition, good detail, no damage or repairs or inscription. Dimensions: Diameter 5.25", height 3". Weight 6 Troy oz
