Large pair of sterling vases by Gorham.

Here is a very elegant pair of sterling vases made by Gorham. The bases are cement-filled, but that is only the lower 1.5". I say this because they are not of flimsy construction. Instead they are sturdy and of a good gauge of sterling. Each is engraved with a Coat-of-Arms, but to which institution they belong I am not certain. However, they do lend a decorative feature. The motto translates to: "I have chosen the way of truth". It is a popular motto and has been adopted by Elms College, Chicopee, MA for one. Fully marked on the base, as pictured. In excellent condition, no dents, dings or repairs. Dimensions: 12.375" tall. Base diameter 4.5". Total weight 60 Troy oz.
