Sterling bowl with Lion's Heads, Gorham 1869.

Here is a wonderful sterling bowl by Gorham, dated with a B for 1869, adorned with two cast silver lion's heads. These are of very stylized forms, with Persian influences. They have swept back ears, hooded eyes and prominent moustaches. They each also have a strange collar. It is in amazing condition for its age and delicacy. The gilding and engraving in the bowl is intact although the gilding is a bit pale with years of polishing. There are no dents, repairs or monograms. Fully marked on the bottom of the base.
