A very pretty and elegant sterling bowl with some of the finest engraving you would ever see.
In each of three panels there is a very fine engraving of an elaborate hanging basket with overflowing with various flowers and trailing vines. The other three panels is simple floral engraving. The whole is topped with a Persian- influenced frieze of raised decoration, all bordered with a 14 ct gold band.
The workmanship is outstanding. This is only the second article I have owned by The Sweetser Company, a New York firm in business about 1900-1915, but both have been mixed-metal, i.e. gold and sterling, and both have had extraordinary fine engraving and decoration.
Fully marked on the base. Very fine condition, just a few light usage scratches on the inside.
Dimensions: 9.25" in diameter, 4.25" high. Weight 22 Troy oz.
