Older ivory Chinese chess set. Despite being well carved, it looks like the king and "queen" are actually bone and from something else. The other 30 pieces are all ivory and show a nice grain on flat surfaces. There are a few nicks on some of the red pieces that could be easily touched up with a bit of paint. Some other small condition problems such as the decapitated knight (Could be glued back)...

Very nice Eskimo carved billiken. I believe this is walrus ivory. The label is a bit rumpled and difficult to photograph but it reads "Genuine Ivory, Eskimo Made" and the center shows a smiling Eskimo fellow. 6.5cm tall. Ships only to US minus California.

An Oshigata Book of Modern Japanese Swordsmiths 1868-1945. This book was first published in 2001 by John Scott Slough in paperback. John is a family friend, and I know firsthand the effort and care he put into this project. This is the deluxe second printing from 2004, featuring a hard linen cover, and gold leaf lettering on cover and spine (first printing is paperback)...

This offering is a finely made basket, I believe it is Papago. It has a unique star shaped rim woven into place at five points. No noticable damage, but does show its age. Maximum width including the rim is just under 15cm, not including the rim it is 12cm. A basket with character.

Nice ivory netsuke depicting a turtle relaxing on a lily pad. The bottom shows the veins of the pad and the stem leaning to the side. Not a national treasure but still a nice little carving.

Very nice set of three Inuit ivory figural carvings. Older pieces with some of the dark lines that ivory grain often shows over the years. These were probably mounted on something at one time as there are holes in the fellows' feet. The tallest is 5.5cm. Nice little grouping.

old walrus tusk with strange billiken carving. While usually represented as a smiling cherub type creature this face is more haunting and menacing. It is also less invasivly carved into the tusk which otherwise keeps its natural shape. A little bit around the back side and below the face is a signature or maker mark. A hole at the smoothed off base indicates that this was once mounted on something. Very interesting piece. Just under nine inches in length.
