Very cool dog tag from Stalag XII A . Prisoner number 88 871 . This POW camp was located in Thorn Poland and initially received captured Polish prisoners. In 1940 the first 403 British prisoners arrived from the fighting in Norway. These were followed by around 4500 from Dunkirk and then soldiers from the 51st Highland Inf. Div. captured in Saint-Valery-en-Creux. In 1941 the first Soviet prisoners began arriving and this became the norm until liberation on February 1 1945...

Odd little bayonet that I can not identify. An even 25cm long and the socket opening is 63mm. Socket also appears to be separate welded piece. Very odd, very interesting.

Interesting, period, thick cardboard poster of a Third Reich agricultural district. Not military but I always find this "Blood and butter" stuff interesting. It is a little bowed and the corners show real wear but colors and the "meat" of the poster are still solid and attractive. This would still look pretty nice if flattened out in even a cheap Walmart frame. The river is the Inn so without doing much research I would assume it is an area in Austria...

Rising sun parade flag. Very interesting that this remains in such good shape as it is small and delicate. Stick measure 30cm and has black stripes and a neat little gold painted ball at the top. Besides the fact that this delicate stick has not broken it amazingly has the original tag still in place. The silk flag section measures about 17x12cm and still has bright coloring. This is not an expensive high end item but it is just really neat and would look great in even an advanced collection...

When local boys or men were going off to war their neighborhoods would have a "going off to war" party. This type of banner would be used as decoration at such events. This silk example is 150x40cm. There is a piece of wood or bamboo sewn into the top. The fancy fringe at the bottom is complete and in very good shape. Nice rendition of a rising sun at the top. The colors are strong but in a few spots there is evidence that it got wet as there is some small areas of color run; Not too disfiguring...

Nice example of the famous mother's cross in issue case. I don't recall offhand the number of children needed to be awarded the gold, but it was more then any sane parent would want. This one has excellent clean, undamaged enamel and perfect gold finish. Ribbon is nice and clean and curled nicely; So often they are a jumbled mess just shoved into the box. Felt bottom of box is undamaged with only the usual aging...

This is a neat little item. Priced cheap as it needs a repair but will be cool when fixed. The bag says something about 2600th anniversary which I believe is a reference to 1940 when Japan celebrated the 2600th anniversary of the Japanese empire mythically founded by Emperor Jimmu. It is an interesting date as Japan was heavily engaged in China and was being cornered into a deeper war with the western powers. Little telescoping flag pole broken in the middle...

No this is not a scarce medal but this is as good as you can get. 2nd class war merit cross with swords on a lovely, clean and well wrapped parade mount. The accompanying document is likewise in excellent condition. It does have the usual fold in the middle but the corners are reasonably sharp and the paper is free of stains and yellowing. Very attractive pair. The photograph came with. No, there is no proof they are involved but I am not charging extra and I would like it to stay with the set...
