Cute little cat netsuke. At about 3.2cm high this is not a large example but it is tastefully carved and has a nice ivory grain throughout. Signed Mitsu Yuki.

Lovely German antler rack with Black Forest style wood mount. This rack is on the small side and oddly shaped. I know misshapen antlers such as this do have a niche collector base. The mount is a pressed wood particle composite that was just begginning to be used for this purpose in the 1920's. This one has a sticker on the back that is mostly rubbed off and illegible. I have another rack that is the same style and the sticker is legible on that one (See last photo on this listing)...

Very nice mounted antler rack. This is a nice set of antlers typical to German deer. This is actually a rather good size pair measuring 8 inches from base of antler to the tip. The tag on the back indicates that the wood mount was made in Austria. Interestingly it specifically mentions Osterreich which was the name used for Austria from the beginning of German occupation to the end of WWII in 1945. This is helpful as it pinpoints the exact age of this set of antlers to 1945 at the latest...

Older ivory Chinese chess set. Despite being well carved, it looks like the king and "queen" are actually bone and from something else. The other 30 pieces are all ivory and show a nice grain on flat surfaces. There are a few nicks on some of the red pieces that could be easily touched up with a bit of paint. Some other small condition problems such as the decapitated knight (Could be glued back)...

Very interesting scrimshaw whale tooth. This example has a fascinating look to it. This must have been a very old whale as there are many, thick crystalline calcium deposits and even a gap between deposits. I have seen a lot of whale teeth but nothing quite like this. It measures a bit under 6 inches long but is a fat brute at over 3 inches wide, a circumference of over 8 inches and weighing over 20 ounces...

Wow. This is a piece of Americana that just intrigues me. Carved out of a solid elephant ivory ball, this piece opens up into 3 panels carved in 3D. The soldiers on each panel are renderings of typical Revolutionary War soldiers. The center panel is an officer on horseback, possible George Washington, and is one half of the ball. The right quarter is a navy fellow holding a cutlass with the sea behind him. The left panel looks to be an infantryman with either cannon bursts or clouds behind him...

Very tastefully done sterling silver Bezique card set, probably from second quarter of 20th century. Case is done with very detailed repousse work featuring a multitude of cherubs with a floral swag pattern. Top of box is monogrammed "SSA". Hallmark on base of box is unknown (to us.) Top and side compartments are purple lined and include four sets of cards; Two have the same SSA initials and there are two that have U.S. IRS import stamps for playing cards (one is detached from the pack)...

This offering is a very tasteful Japanese bud vase featuring three characters in kimono. It measures a little under 4 inches. For whatever reason, the signature is blackened making it hard to make out.

This offering is a finely made basket, I believe it is Papago. It has a unique star shaped rim woven into place at five points. No noticable damage, but does show its age. Maximum width including the rim is just under 15cm, not including the rim it is 12cm. A basket with character.

An Oshigata Book of Modern Japanese Swordsmiths 1868-1945. This book was first published in 2001 by John Scott Slough in paperback. John is a family friend, and I know firsthand the effort and care he put into this project. This is the deluxe second printing from 2004, featuring a hard linen cover, and gold leaf lettering on cover and spine (first printing is paperback)...
