Very nice screw back Iron Cross 1st Class. L/52indicates manufacture by Carl Friedrich Zimmermann in Pforzheim. Condition is very nice throughout with pleasant, uncleaned patina. Spike on top arm of cross is meant to keep the medal from spinning on uniform. Good looking medal.

Very interesting Italian mountain troop cap from the 8th Alpini regiment. As is often the case with Italian insignia, the gold bullion eagle is just a beautiful example. There is one snag to bullion that could easily be glued or tucked in. The 8th Alpini Feltre Battalion enamel pin on the side is a great item and of some solid value on its own. Because this cap is so well made it has a high wool content which unfortunately makes it a favored target of moths...

Beautiful Mettlach stein that has been engraved as a shooting prize. Engraving looks to read something like "For keepsake of the Prussian King's shooting event August 1 1891 Feldwebel Muller. Feldwebel, of course, is an age old term for the equivalent of a staff sergeant. Stein itself is nicely marked with the Villeroy & Boch Mettalch ink stamp and shows the usual high quality of ceramic work typical of this quality oriented firm...

Gorgeous First Class war merit cross in box. Early quality tombac example with nice finish to front that really catches light and shows itself well. Maker marked 62 which matches the maker name on the case Kerbach & Oesterhelt Dresden A1. Box is generally in very good condition with no damage. The War Merit cross embossed relief on the top is a little smoothed off, otherwise a very nice box. This medal really gives a good idea of what they looked like at the time when glittery and shiny...

Beautifully embroidered pennant or small banner for the 1933 Deutsches Turnfest Stuttgart 1933. 71x11.5cm not icluding metal suspension device. Pennant is very clean and embroidery is strong throughout except for some wear to the oak leaves (see photo). Interesting to see a swaztica on something this early. I believe the handsome horse is the symbol of the city of Stuttgart which is the capital of the state of Baden-W├╝rttemberg in Southern Germany. A very attractive pennant.

While this is well past the point of having collector value this is still a very interesting conversation piece that almost speaks for itself. There is just enough left to see the ghost of the SS decal. It also appears to have been a camo. I believe the previous owner put replacement rivets in to make it look more complete. I will leave them there to the discretion of the next owner. The pitting is too extensive to make out shell markings but again, the ghosts seem to be there. Very cool piece.

Powerful plaque depicting angels casting out a German soldier from the city of Reims as the cathedral burns in the distance and the French civilians lie on the ground. The burning of this cathedral was one of the major propaganda points for the French during WWI. The plaque is in wonderful shape. The box is intact and the pressure fit button works. There is damage to the lid lining as per last photo and a little bit in the front corners...

Nice army engineer NCO visor cap. Size is 54 and marked on crown. There is some moth nipping mostly on the felt band. This is certainly priced in and is subtle as the colors are dark throughout and next layer doesn't show much at all. Visor remains very nice and shows only some very minor wear. In the corner of the visor there is a touch of glue showing and the sweatband is stuck on at that spot...

Very interesting Antifaschistische Aktion belt buckle. Looks to be made from a heavy, early defaced German belt buckle; Likely either an SA or WWI example. The groups emblem on top is about the size of a penny. On the bottom half of the buckle is the profile bust of what looks like a communist officer. The solder job is old so there is a bit of looseness and a little wiggle to the emblem. The group was forcefully dissolved by the nazis in 1933 but apparantly was revived in the 1980's...

This is a very interesting item with a fair amunt of character. The book is titles "Die Wehrmacht Das Buch des Krieges 1940/41". It is a typical German propaganda book with lots of good photos and text and goes into fairly good depth on the war in France, air war against the British, the Balkan campaigns and the invasion of Russia. The book becomes interesting when the cover is opened and we find the book was presented to SS Funker (Radioman) Dietrich Eckern...

Engraved Bavarian sword by Eickhorn. I believe this short model (Just over 70cm end to end) is intended for use by police. This is an early Imperial German example with the early back to back squirrel Eickhorn logo. The blade is very nice with no nicks or plating issues and only very minor light spotting here and there due to age. Both sides of the blade are engraved with the Bavarian "In Treue Fest" motto (In true service). Also engraved is the distributor J.M. PAUSCHINGER NURNBERG. In later sw...

Very cool overseas or side hat, badge and belt buckle combination for a sergeant of the Spanish Blue Division. While Franco managed to hold Spain out of WWII it was allowed for a volunteer division to be sent to the eastern front. While Franco's goal was to avoid plunging Spain into the maelstrom of war, allowing this volunteer division to be formed was more then likely a way to get the hot heads out of the country. At any rate, this is a nice set of scarce items. All original WWII vintage. The ...

Fascinating Islamic style powder horn. I would date this at 18th century but may go into beginning of 19th century. The horn itself is a ram horn with its beautiful and distinctive ridges. This is the type of horn used for Judaic Shofar so certainly is right for the area. Very pleasing metal work throughout with openwork around the whole piece. Condition is excellent with everything present and in good shape and no cracking to the horn. Measures right at one foot from tip to tip. Really a fascin...

Gorgeous Gustav Brehmer Luftwaffe Flak Badge. Wonderful, early nickel silver example with no damage ad a lovely patina throughout. Properly marked Brehmer Markneukirchen in the correct location with correct hook, hinge and pin assembly. The detail on these Brehmer flak badges is so fine it looks like the gun might start traversing at any moment. Great example of a cool badge by who I believe was the best flak badge maker.

Some items are cool beyond their value and this is one of this pieces where we say "Oh if it could talk...". Super looking German entrenching tool (Shovel) that just screams western front trench warfare. The blade has two marks which I take to be a manufacturer mark and military acceptance mark. The date is a little rubbed out but looks like 1915. 1915 is also impressed into the handle wood. The leather blade cover and is also maker marked and dated 1916. The stampings are crisp but I can't make...

This was always a personal favorite as far as flags. This flag signified that the qualified harbor pilot was in control of the respective ship. Special harbor pilots were (And I belive the practice is still used) because these pilots knew the obstacles, tides, currents and other details of the particular harbor in question. This is an attractive flag with marine type ties. Original metal grommets in place, one of which is marked with a 3. Measuring flags is a tricky business but I come up with a...
