This piece I believe to be a hagi-yaki mizuzashi. The glaze color and incised decoration shows a strong Korean influence owed to the Korean pottery tradition brought to Japan during the early 17th century occupation of Korea by the forces of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The big (?) handles and knop (?) top are design elements often seen on chirashi. This particular form, however, does appear to be a mizuzashi (Water vessel used in the Tea Ceremony). The speckled, coarse body looks like Hagi clay. After s...

935 Silver version of the 1935 Saar badge. This was in commemoration of the plebiscite which returned the Saar region to Germany in 1935. Normally a two pieced stamped tinnie type item, this one is solid and marked 935. A high end example no doubt intended for someone important in the hierarchy. I would go so far as to say a unique item.

Very cool antique Hessian regimental stein. Kanonier Hasele; 6th battery of the Hessian Field Artillery Regiment 61 of Babenhausen. Gorgeous field artillery scenes with vivid coloring throughout with raised details consistent with originals. Date of service was 1906-1908; Most soldiers serving in this time period were later called up for service in WWI. Lithophane on the bottom is a soldier shaking hands with his lady; There was a whole different series of lithophane images used on later reprodu...

Very rare 1930's private purchase USMC EGA cap insignia (Eagle, Globe and Anchor). Terrific detail throughout with longitudinal and latitudinal lines. The eagle's right wing reverse has the MEYER METAL logo and the reverse of the left wing has the NS Meyer shield logo. The lower right corner of the eagle is darker then the rest of the EGA. Presumably this had something to do with how it was stored but whatever the reason my golden rule is to just leave it alone. This is much more subtle then it ...

Very nice pair of RAD athletic shorts featured in published reference book. Inside is sewn a name tag with the fellow's name, rank and unit: Arbeitsmann Rodel K. 2/230 . In the area of the name tag there is also some reinforcing stitching to the hem. On the rear is stamped 230 RADBAF ADGauXXIII, 36 III. These shorts are featured with four photographs on page 545, Volume 2 of Robert Newbrough's excellent book set Sports and the Third Reich, History, Uniforms, In signia and Awards. This is a terri...

Very cool army panzer officer breast eagle. Aluminum bullion manufacture. Excellent condition on black wool backing. It is sometimes hard to tell the difference between dark green and black on these so in the first photo I show it sitting on top of a dark green. This listing is for just the top eagle. Tunic removed and threading holes can be seen on reverse backing.

Very scarce Group Six Assaulting Battalions Medal. This was some campaign in East Africa and the same instance from which the more famous Montagna Cross arose. Fascist medal made in 1935 and designed by Costantino Affer. Obverse is Mussolini giving his Roman salute. Around him are the battalion names. The reverse shows two gladii over a fasces. In the center is the place names where these battalions particularly distinguished themselves in battle. Unfortunately this is the incorrect ribbon. Orig...

Fantastic item. 1923 Yankees official 5 cent scorecard. Here is a real time warp item. Great ads to read (I wonder why Black Jack licorice chewing gum isn't around anymore?) but most significantly is Babe Ruth listed as batting third. Hitting cleanup behind Ruth is Wally Pipp. Listed as an infielder on the bench is Lou Gehrig. This was Gehrig's rookie season and Pipp is the unfortunate that had a headache one day in 1925. Gehrig was put in and never came back out until his health forced him out ...

Very nice set of WWI vintage Carl Zaeiss binoculars. I don't know much about how the dials work but the optics seem to be nice and clear. Lense plate is present and should be fed through the strap but I do not want to mess with the strap buttons. Case is really neat with the original label and wool padding.. Shoulder strap on case is broken. All in all, a nice, early set that is hard to find these days.

Nicely detailed luftwaffe banner painte on a light masonite type material. I have seen these before (Examples of various flags/standards) but not sure exactly what they were used for. One explanation I have heard is that they were used as seat markers at higher level meetings between service branches. In this case it would tell the representative from the Luftwaffe intelligence service where at the table he would be seated. The material is light so they are almost always a bit damaged. This one ...

This is a very interesting item. Armband for the Japanese army press corps. The markings on the reverse indicate that this was related to the occupying force of the city the Japanese called "Ryujun". This Chinese city is known to us as Port Arthur and to the Chinese as Lushunkou. About 15x30cm. Very unique type item directly related to the occupying force of a historically significant city.

Great example of a walnut based P08 Luger magazine. Has the Erfurt Arsenal stamp but it a rare example of an unnumbered magazine. These are very desirable as they are sort of the O-type universal donor of Luger magazines. When one is missing a magazine for a numbered Luger this is the easy answer.
